Closing Down

So sorry--Ancestor's Connect is no longer operating. My thanks to everyone who has followed and taken part on this blog. Hope you will all hop on over to my new site at http://www.truemiracleswithgenealogy.com and follow that one instead.

Truemiracleswithgenealogy.com  is for updated information about my new book True Miracles with Genealogy, which should be in stores October 2010. It is also a place to which readers may send more inspiring research stories for the enlightenment of us all. And hopefully, the site will bring together researchers looking for their family names--especially those with brick walls.

STIVERS, KRAMER, ZIEBOLD, DURCHOLTZ, BRAUN

Today is crazy busy, so I'm posting this entry as is. Hope someone  can help this researcher. Please contact me for her contact information.

Catherine STIVERS. We think her father's name was Edward or Charles. We don't know Cathy's mother's name.

Cathy had several brothers and sisters (we think 6 in all - maybe more after the first group of children were sent to foster homes). Only her brother Jimmy went with her to the KRAMER's foster home. The others were split up. We think some of their names were Shirley and/or Betty.

The family was split apart in Georgetown, Ohio, just east of Cincinnati, Ohio in the early 1950's.

Unfortunately, her younger brother Jimmy had muscular dystrophy and died at an early age: somewhere between 15-20.

Also, I'd like to find my grandmother's family: the ZIEBOLDs and the DURCHOLTZs.

Both the Ziebolds and Durcholz's came over from Germany in the mid 1800's. They settled in either the Cincinnati, Ohio area or neighboring Indiana.

My grandmother was born Mary (May) Augusta Ziebold. May was born April 2, 1900. She married Walter Charles Braun and lived most of her life in Mt. Healthy (Cincinnati, Ohio). She died when she was 86 in 1986.

May's mother was Josie Durcholz (perhaps Josephine?). May's father was Andrew Ziebold. Her oldest sibling was Sadie Ziebold. The second oldest was Andrew Ziebold Jr. who died of mustard gas poisoning in WWI.

Grandma never introduced me to Sadie or her children/grandchildren. I'd love to meet them. I think they stayed in the Cincinnati area but I'm not sure. I think one of Sadie's children was named Jo Ann but again, I'm not sure.

Another reason I don't know much about the Durcholz family is because Josie died when May was under 6, so May didn't know much about her mother or her mother's family. Unfortunately, the Georgetown, Ohio courthouse burned in 1912 and that family's Ohio records had been in that Georgetown facility.
